Facial Rejuvenation acupuncture is a safe and effective treatment for restoring youthfulness on the face as well as the whole body. Fine lines may be eliminated, deeper wrinkles reduced in appearance, and bags around neck and eyes firmed. Patients can expect to look well-rested with a youthful glow, often compared to looking around 5 years younger.
Fine needles are placed at a variety of acupuncture points on the face, neck and around the eyes to stimulate the flow of Qi. This naturally stimulates collagen production, and the muscles of the face tone and tighten on their own. The needles also stimulate blood and circulation, which improves facial color and skin tone.
Topical herbal and skin care preparations are also used based on the needs of each client, according to the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Your practitioner will carefully select the mix of therapies that will be of most benefit to you and your goals.
Before & After (4 Treatments)
As with all acupuncture treatment, treating one part of the body does not happen in isolation. The meridian pathways connect all body systems, organs, and parts to one another through circuits of Qi, like traffic traveling on connecting highways. Thus, we can treat the whole body by way of acupuncture points on the face alone. This is sometimes referred to as “holographic” medicine – the whole (body) is represented on the part (face). As such, Facial Rejuvenation acupuncture can benefit a host of conditions, in addition to restoring a youthful appearance on the face. Some such conditions include:
Acne, by way of correcting hormonal imbalances
Menopause, perimenopause, PMS and other GYN issues
Sinus congestion and headache
Hyper- and hypothyroidism
Toothache, TMJ, trigeminal neuralgia, and Bell’s palsy
Headaches (except severe migraine)
Diarrhea, constipation, and other digestive issues
Edema, water retention, puffiness
Eye, ear, and brain disorders
Insomnia, dizziness, and vertigo
Depression by way of enhancing self-esteem
Reduces stress and promotes total health and well-being
The benefits to the face include:
Improvement in collagen production and muscle tone
Helps reduce bags and sagging tendencies
Helps eliminate fine lines and diminish larger wrinkles
Helps lift drooping eyelids
Tightens pores and brightens eyes
Increases local blood and lymph circulation
Improves facial color
Many patients report that friends and family comment that they look well-rested and relaxed after a few sessions of facial rejuvenation. Don’t be surprised to hear, “You look great, what have you done differently?”
For the vast majority of patients, Facial Rejuvenation acupuncture is a safe and beneficial treatment, not only for prevention of wrinkles, but also the reversal of the customary signs of aging. However, there are some conditions for which Facial Rejuvenation acupuncture is not recommended:
Severe high blood pressure (it is OK when the blood pressure is under control and the patient is seeing a medical doctor)
Severe migraines (if the patient is having a migraine only once every 3 months or so, they can receive facial acupuncture treatments)
Within 3 weeks of laser resurfacing treatment of the face; and within one week of microdermabrasion treatment.
Patients with a cold or the flu (OK once the condition has passed)
During an acute herpes outbreak (OK once the condition has passed)
During an acute allergic reaction (OK once the condition has passed)
You will relax comfortably on our treatment table while your face is gently cleansed, and a facial mask is applied to remove toxins and improve skin firmness.
Fine needles will then be placed along the face, neck, and body to further stimulate the tissue to tone, tighten, and improve in circulation and color. Needle-phobic or sensitive patients may choose to substitute acupressure at this step, which involves the gentle application of pressure at certain acupoints.
Finally, a head, neck, and shoulder massage will leave you looking and feeling refreshed and renewed.
